You will work on developing a palm sensor for the robot hand that senses the motion and orientation of the hand, captures the contact forces and their distribution, detects presence and thermal signature of objects in front of the hand. In an earlier project the sensor hardware was developed and tested. Your task is to extend the microcontroller firmware to read out the VL6180x Time-of-Flight pre-touch sensors, Panasonic Grid-Eye thermal camera and BNO055 IMU and transmit the gathered data over USB to a PC.
In case this would not find enough interest for a team project, this project proposal would be also offered (in reduced/modified form)
[x] as individual project
[x] as project for 2-3 students
Knowledge and some experience of C programming language is mandatory; previous experience with microcontroller programming and real-time operating systems will be helpful.

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
