Zentraler Inhalt des Schulpraktischen Klavierspiels ist die Liedbegleitung. Um in der Schule oder im Chor Lieder stilgerecht, abwechslungsreich und mitreißend begleiten zu können, ist ein vielfältiges Repertoire an Begleitmustern nötig. Im Laufe von drei Semestern wird dieses schrittweise vermittelt und erarbeitet, ausgehend von einfachen Achtelbegleitungen mit Hauptdreiklängen, über Pop-, Rock- und Gospelgrooves bis hin zu komplexen lateinamerikanischen Rhythmen und Jazzharmonik. Weitere Inhalte des Kurses sind die eigene (Re-)Harmonisierung von Liedern, das Gestalten von Vor-, Zwischen- und Nachspielen und die Improvisation.
