230564 Small words, big screens. Writing movies (BS) (SoSe 2020)

This course has been cancelled!

Contents, comment

This seminar will give students a detailed introduction to the world of screenwriting and covers everything from the first idea to
structure and dialogue right down to the question of how to sell and market your baby once it is finished.
We will analyze movies and movie excerpts, explore different techniques to introduce as much conflict as possible to your story, and have you finish with the two most fundamental preparation tools on the way to your first draft: the outline and the treatment.

So buckle up and get ready because we are going to face one of our scariest
opponents as authors: the blank page. How do we defeat it? By filling it with
words.
