Das Seminar widmet sich der seit 2008/2009 wieder aufgeflammten Debatte über den Kapitalismus. Dabei geht es um begriffliche und Definitionsfragen, um "klassische" Kapitalismustheorien und um neuere Ansätze der Interpretation des Kapitalismus wie z.B. in der "New History of Capitalism" oder in feministischen Beiträgen.
Als empirienähere Felder der Betrachtung dienen die Rolle von Unternehmen, die Allokationsformen von Arbeit und der Zusammenhang von Produktion und Konsum.

Die Teilnahme setzt ein abgeschlossenes Bachelorstudium voraus. Es ist über das Mastermodul Moderne hinaus auch für das Theorimodul geöffnet.

Studienleistungen können Form einer Textvorstellung und Diskussionsleitung erbracht werden.
Als Prüfungsleistung wird die Anfertigung einer Hausarbeit in Form einer Textdiskussion erwartet.
