Ziel der LV ist es, ein vollständiges und realistisches Bild über die Arbeit und den Alltag des Lektors / der Lektorin zu geben, um eine mögliche Berufsentscheidung zu unterstützen. Wichtig ist daher ein stark praxisbezogener Ablauf.
Anhand von Originalmanuskripten (Auszügen) wird die Frage nach dem Funktionieren (und Nicht- Funktionieren) von Texten gestellt. Ich möchte zeigen, woran bei literarischen Texten bspw. ein gelungener Spannungsaufbau zu erkennen ist, wie Stil und Genre zusammenpassen, also Sprache und Inhalt korrelieren, etc. Ziel ist es zu erfahren, warum ein Text wirkt, bzw. zu verstehen, wie er verändert werden muss, damit er wirkt.
Auch weiterführende Aspekte des Berufsbildes werden ausführlich erläutert: Wie sieht die soziale und ökonomische Situation von Lektoren aus? Welche Perspektiven (langfristig und kurzfristig) bietet der Beruf? Was unterscheidet den freien Lektor vom Verlagslektor? Welche rechtlichen Aspekte (Verlagsrecht, Eigentumsrecht etc.) gilt es zu beachten?
Weiterhin werden praktische Fragen des Arbeitsalltags angesprochen: Wie organisiere ich den Arbeitsalltag? Wie sehen Arbeitsabläufe aus, etwa vom Manuskript zu Buch? Wie werden Aufträge akquiriert, Preise kalkuliert? Was muss im täglichen Umgang mit Autorinnen und Autoren beachtet werden?
