Das Kolloquium widmet sich in einem ersten Teil der Frage, welche theoretischen und methodischen Herausforderungen sich stellen, wenn man Gegenwartsliteratur erforschen möchte. Ein besonderes Augenmerk wird dabei auf aktuelle literatursoziologische Diskussionen gelegt. Der zweite Teil der Veranstaltung widmet sich einem thematischen Ausschnitt aus der Gegenwartsliteratur und Gegenwartsphilosophie: Wir lesen autofiktionale und theoretische Texte, die sich mit tief greifenden persönlichen Transformationen befassen.
