Gewalt, die als politisch definiert wird, sorgt bis heute für starke gesellschaftliche Aufmerksamkeit. Die Veranstaltung vermittelt auf drei Ebenen themen- und forschungsbezogene Grundlagen: Es geht um die neuere Gewaltforschung, um Definitionsversuche politischer Gewalt sowie um ausgewählte historische Phasen, die geprägt waren von einem massiven Auftreten als politisch definierter Gewalt. Dazu gehören u.a. die "Kommune" in Frankreich (1870/71), die globale Umbruchphase (inkl. kolonialer Konflikte) zwischen etwa 1916 und 1923 sowie der Spanische Bürgerkrieg (1936/39).
Im Seminar "Nachkriegsgesellschaften", als zweitem Element dieses Hauptmoduls, besteht die Gelegenheit, die hier erarbeiteten Grundlagen an Fallstudien zu erproben.
