Karl der Große (748-814) gehört zu den bedeutendsten und bekanntesten Herrschern des Mittelalters. Im Seminar soll das Leben Karls des Großen näher in den Blick genommen werden, etwa seine militärischen Erfolge, seine Reichsregierung, sein Umgang mit der Kirche und mit Gelehrten oder auch sein Kaisertum. Weiter sollen seine Mythifizierung und sein Nachleben betrachtet werden.
