Die Einführung in die Literaturwissenschaft widmet sich folgenden Basisfragen:
- Was ist ein (literarischer) Text?
- Wie lesen, verstehen, interpretieren wir (narrative, lyrische, dramatische) Texte?
- Was ist ein Autor? Was sind Konzepte von Autorschaft?
- Was sind literarische Gattungen?
- Was ist eine Literaturepoche? Was ist Literaturgeschichtsschreibung?
- Was sind literaturwissenschaftliche Methoden? Was ist Literaturwissenschaft?
- Was ist literarische Übersetzung?
- In welchem Verhältnis steht Literatur zu den anderen Künsten?
- Was ist der Stellenwert der Literatur unter den anderen Medien?

Die Einführung wird mit einer Klausur abgeschlossen.
Im Rahmen aktiver Teilnahme gilt es, in Gruppenarbeit, die Diskussion einer konkreten Seminarsitzung zu führen sowie der Seminargruppe ein ausgearbeitetes Thesenpapier bereit zu stellen.
