Horaz' Ars poetica gehört zu den wirkungsmächtigsten Hinterlassenschaften der römischen Literatur. Der komplexe Text changiert zwischen den Gattungen der poetischen Epistel und des Lehrgedichts. Das lektüreorientierte Seminar will Aspekte der Literaturkritik und des literarischen Betriebs in den Vordergrund stellen. Neben der Ars poetica soll auch ihre (spät-) antike Kommentierung berücksichtigt werden.
