Die Vorlesung ist eine Einführung in die Methoden der Diskreten Mathematik. Das umfasst: Graphentheorie, abzählende Kombinatorik und elementare Zahlentheorie. Genau diese Bereiche und ihre Methoden sind in der Biologie und in der Informatik von Bedeutung. Eine genauere Übersicht über die behandelten Themen liefert das Buch von N. Biggs (s. die Literaturangaben), Teile III & IV.

Requirements for participation, required level

Module Mathematik I und Mathematik II. Insbesondere grundlegende Beweismethoden (vollständige Induktion etc.) sowie Gruppen, Ringe, Körper, Folgen, Reihen, Taylorreihen.
