Das schwindende Interesse der Jugendlichen an Politik wird in Öffentlichkeit und Wissenschaft gleichermaßen beklagt. Als empirische Bestätigung dieser Diagnose werden in Deutschland vor allem die Befunde der Shell-Jugendstudien herangezogen und darauf verwiesen, dass offenkundig das politische Interesse der Jugendlichen im letzten Jahrzehnt kontinuierlich gesunken ist. Im Seminar soll herausgearbeitet werden, ob dieser Befund tatsächlich das aktuelle Verhältnis der Jugendlichen zur Politik angemessen beschreibt. Zudem soll ein Politikbegriff erörtert werden, der den Lebensumständen von Jugendlichen Rechnung trägt und ihre spezifische Möglichkeiten politischer Meinungsbildung reflektiert.
