261007 Einführung in die Tugendethik (S) (WiSe 2010/2011)

Die Tugendethik bietet eine wichtige Alternative sowohl zu konsequentialistischen wie auch deontologischen Moraltheorien. Im ersten Teil der Veranstaltungen sollen die einflussreichsten Positionen der antiken Tugendlehre an Hand ausgewählter Texte unter anderem von Platon, Aristoteles und Epikur erörtert werden. Dabei gilt es insbesondere zu klären, was die verschiedenen Autoren unter einer Tugend verstehen und welche Bedeutung sie ihrem Besitz bzw. Ihrer Praxis für ein gutes Leben beimessen. Ferner soll der Frage nachgegangen werden, wie Tugenden erworben werden können und welche Aufgabe der politischen Gemeinschaft etwa im Bereich der Erziehung zukommt. Im (kürzeren) zweiten Teil der Veranstaltung sollen verschiedene Versuche moderner Theoretiker, an die antike Tugendethik anzuknüpfen, betrachtet werden. Um einen ersten Einblick in die zeitgenössische Diskussion zu gewinnen, sollen unter anderem Texte von Philippa Foot, Alasdair MacIntyre und Martha Nussbaum gemeinsam gelesen und analysiert werden.

Bibliography

Die im Seminar behandelten Texte werden den Teilnehmern als Kopiervorlage zugänglich gemacht.
