This course gives in its first part an overview of the theoretical approaches and empirical findings of research on income inequality in economics and sociology. In the second part, a central mechanism-social closure-and a special context-organizations-of the production of income inequality will be discussed. The third part is devoted to the normative perception of income inequality i.e. justice attitudes.
