Die Lücke zwischen Science Fiction und der Realität der Gegenwart scheint geringer zu werden. Insbesondere digitale Technik und Genetik haben sprunghafte Fortschritte gemacht, auch wenn wir beispielsweise von Androiden, die von Menschen kaum noch zu unterscheiden sind, noch weit entfernt sind. Doch es geht eher um Unterstützungssysteme und Kommunikationswege, bei denen sich durchaus die Frage stellt, inwiefern sie in der Lage sind oder es bald werden, Teile der zwischenmenschlichen Kommunikation und Kooperation zu substituieren. Damit verschwimmen Grenzen zwischen dem Sozialen auf der einen und Biologie und Technik auf der anderen Seite. Was steckt hinter den Zukunftsentwürfen bekannter dystopischer Filme, und was hat das mit den realen Möglichkeiten zu tun? Welche sozialen Mechanismen werden davon berührt? Dies sind die Fragen, denen sich das Seminar von beiden Seiten aus nähern will.
