In addition to economic and cultural capital, social capital is linked in many ways to the emergence and transmission of social inequalities. The causal relationship between social capital and social inequality is complex and can be described at various levels. The seminar will take a closer look at these causal relations and illustrate them with examples. In this context, different concepts of social capital will be introduced and discussed. In combination with theoretical concepts about the structure and peoples positions within social networks, additional possibilities for describing and measuring social capital will be theorized.
The seminar will be held in English.
