Introduction to Creative Writing
This intensive seminar conducted in English introduces students to creative writing techniques important to the development of short imaginative works of their own in poetry and prose. The students will read a selection of international writers published in English for craft models to learn image, narrative, point of view, scene, tone, among other fundamentals. Through drafting, sharing work with each other, and revising with feedback from their peers and professor, the students will increase their facility with English both as a second language and artistic medium with which to create poems and literary prose pieces.
This course will also schedule Skype sessions with a couple writers (one poet, one prose writer) to talk about their writing processes with the students. Most likely, these writers will be from Canada and the U.S.
