Soziale Bewegungen und ihre Anführer*innen lösen in der Öffentlichkeit und in populärwissenschaftlichen Medien häufig ein starkes Interesse aus. Doch wie lassen sich soziale Bewegungen historisch erforschen? Was sind Ursachen und Merkmale von sozialen Bewegungen und welche Rolle spielen Akteur*innen und Führungspersönlichkeiten? Diesen und weiteren Fragen wird das Seminar mit Blick auf die USA im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert nachgehen. Die Veranstaltung ist als Posterseminar konzipiert. Regelmäßige Teilnahme und das Lesen englischsprachiger Literatur wird vorausgesetzt.
