Das Thema dieses Seminars lässt sich in den Bereich der geometrischen Gruppentheorie einordnen. Gruppen tauchen in verschieden Bereichen der Mathematik auf und beschreiben formal die Symmetrie von Objekten. In diesem Seminar werden wir einerseits das algebraische Konzept von Gruppen studieren und andererseits die Geometrie von Graphen behandeln. Ein wichtiges Hilfsmittel bei der Verbindung dieser beiden Welten wird der Begriff einer Wirkung sein: Beispielsweise werden wir sehen, dass eine Gruppe genau dann frei ist wenn sie frei auf einen Baum wirkt.
In diesem Seminar erhalten die Teilnehmenden einerseits die Möglichkeit, einen Einblick in einen aktuellen Bereich der heutigen Mathematik zu gewinnen und andererseits können sie erste Erfahrungen mit dem Formulieren und Präsentieren mathematischer Inhalte sammeln.
