Der Stoizismus, vor allem die stoizistische Ethik, ist für die Literatur des 17. Jahrhunderts von kaum zu überschätzender Bedeutung. Als Stichwortgeber fungierte in erster Linie der niederländische Philosoph Justus Lipsius (Vater des sogenannten Neostoizismus), dessen 1584 erschienene Schrift "De constantia" eine Reihe von Kernbegriffen und -gedanken lieferte. Mit dem Begriff der "constantia" (Beständigkeit) verbinden sich etwa Vorstellungen von autonomer Lebensbewältigung, Affektbeherrschung und vernunftgeleitetem Handeln – allesamt Leitvorstellungen im barocken Denken. Ziel dieser Veranstaltung ist es, im Ausgang von der Stoizismus-Rezeption ausgewählter Autoren (Andreas Gryphius, Paul Fleming u.a.) die Charakteristika deutschsprachiger Barockliteratur kennenzulernen.

Dirk Niefanger, Barock, 3. Auflage, Stuttgart/Weimar 2012.

Der Seminarplan wird zusammen mit den weiteren organisatorischen Eckdaten in der ersten Sitzung vorgestellt.
