The goal of this course is to ensure that students are able to express themselves clearly, coherently, correctly and in an appropriate style in written English in a variety of academic text types (such as summaries, academic papers, essays). In the seminar, students will be given the opportunity to extend and consolidate their writing skills through regular and intensive writing tasks. They will be able to develop their control of grammatical structures and the scope and appropriateness of their lexical resources in a range of communicative contexts, and to reflect together and individually on the writing process.

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
You are expected to do the written homework that I set you.
You MUST, as part of your Studienleistung, take part in the mock Proficiency Test that will take place in week 6 (or thereabouts), and hand in an essay (ca. 1,400 words) at the end of the semester that observes the criteria of academic writing (introduction, thesis statement, paragraph structure, documentation etc.) that we discussed in class.
