300262 Introduction to qualitative research methods (S) (WiSe 2020/2021)

Contents, comment

This course will focus on the methodological fundamentals of qualitative research methods, building on students' existing knowledge about qualitative approaches. We will use these fundamentals to explore newer developments of qualitative studies which mirror changes in data types and social issues. Specifically, we will also reflect the consequences of "social distancing" on opportunities for doing qualitative research. We will also discuss questions of quality criteria in qualitative research, the ethics of obtaining and analysing qualitative data, and the (legal) problems connected with data storage and anonymisation.

You will be assigned a number of miniature research and reflection tasks in order to put into practice course insights. The course will be conducted in a distance-learning format, combining synchronous web-conference sessions with asynchronous elements in the LernraumPlus.
