Da die Umsetzung von Konzeptionen von den Einstellungen/Vorstellungen (Beliefs) der Lehrenden und Lernenden abhängt, sollen zunächst über die Weltbilder (views) bezüglich Mathematik und Mathematikunterricht gesprochen werden. Nach einem Überblick über verschiedene Konzeptionen und Trends in der Mathematikdidaktik der letzten 500 Jahre sollen in arbeitsteiligen Gruppen einzelne Konzeptionen tiefer gehend analysiert werden. Weiterhin werden Aspekte von allgemeinen Zielen und Allgemeinbildung der letzten vierzig Jahre behandelt. Schließlich soll die Diskussion um Bildungsstandards der letzten zehn Jahre analysiert und mögliche Umsetzungen beispielhaft erarbeitet werden.
