Das Judentum der letzten zwei Jahrtausende wird in dieser Vorlesung möglichst umfassend und in seinen verschiedenen Aspekten dargestellt:
- Literatur (Mischna/ Talmud/ Bibelinterpretationen/ Responsen/ der Schulchan Aruch / Predigten etc.)
- Geschichte (Ausbreitung, lokale Schwerpunkte, zentrale Ereignisse)
- Rituale (Feiern im Haus / Gottesdienstordnungen), Theologie, Gruppierungen (sfardisches/askenasisches Judentum; Orthodoxie/Reformjudentum) etc.
Kontextuell wird das Judentum als Folge und Verwirklichung der alten Religion Israels (AT) ebenso verdeutlicht wie als Gegenüber des Christentums (NT). Er wird jedoch vor allem darum gehen, das Judentum als in sich eigenständige Religion zu verstehen und zu erfassen (RW).
