The aim of this course is to explore the potential of authentic materials, particularly focusing on audio-visual formats such as (short) films, viral videos, advertisements, animation films, documentaries or vod- and podcasts. In each session, we will focus on a different format in order to examine their potential for developing students’ skills and competences such as reading, writing, speaking and viewing. Moreover, we will discuss aspects such as creating individualised/differentiated learning opportunities and measuring students’ performance and progress.
