In dieser Veranstaltung werden Sozialwissenschaftler vorgestellt, die für die Entwicklung des soziologischen Denkens von besonderer, oft nachhaltiger Bedeutung gewesen sind. Dazu zählen u. a. Auguste Comte, Herbert Spencer, Karl Marx, Emile Durkheim, George H. Mead, Georg Simmel, Max Weber, Karl Mannheim und Norbert Elisas. Neben dem theoretischen Gehalt soll die Zeitgebundenheit soziologischen Denkens deutlich werden.

Für die aktive Teilnahme (3 LP) ist neben regelmäßiger Teilnahme die Beantwortung von fünf Fragen erforderlich, die während des Semesters gestellt werden. Eine Einzelleistung (5 LP) kann über eine Hausarbeit, eine mündliche Prüfung oder ein Referat mit schriftlicher Ausarbeitung erbracht werden.
