In diesem Modul werden pflanzenökologische Methoden zur Erfassung von Pflanzengesellschaften erlernt und in Einzelprojekten vertieft. Außerdem werden Artenkenntnisse (Pflanzen, Moose, Farne) vermittelt. Die wichtigsten Ökosysteme Europas werden vorgestellt und in einer mehrtägigen Exkursionen wird auf verschiedene Biotope Deutschlands eingegangen (Internationalpark Odertal, Schwedt; Spreewald, Vetschau). 5 Tagesexkursionen in OWL zu verschiedenen pflanzensoziologischen Themen (Wald, Moor, Ufervegetation See, Trockenrasen, Hecke, Ackerrandstreifen, Ruderalvegetation) runden den Schwerpunkt pflanzliche Artendiversität ab. In einem einwöchigen Modellierungspraktikum werden Modelle für die Etablierung und Ausbreitung von eingeführten bzw. invasiven Arten erarbeitet und mit eigens verfassten Daten von Neophyten an der Werre verglichen.
