230541 Kolloquium Game Studies (Ko) (SoSe 2019)

Contents, comment

„Why Game Studies?“ trailblazing Pioneer in the academic research for Digital Games Espen Aarseth asked at the first Clash of Realities Conference at the TH Köln in 2006. “How can there be one field of game studies? What impudence!” (ibid.) he added in the attached paper to his talk.
Given the complexity of the boundary object Computer Game, remediating older me-diums such as literature, radioplay and film on the one hand, but also inhabiting a new and unique mediality on the other, an interdisciplinary mode of thinking and access seems to be necessary to fully understand the medium.
This Colloquium addresses everyone involved in academic research in the field of Digital Games. It is not important whether that might be a Master or Bachelor Thesis, a Seminar Paper or a miscellaneous work. We’d like to aim at an open dialogue and exchange of thoughts in the wake of the Colloquium, where every participant shall present her/his work and be granted the opportunity to get feedback and inspiration.
Whether you’re a student, a doctorate and/or a research associate – we’d like to get to know you.
