"Die Düsseldorfer Malerschule" bezeichnet Maler, die im 19. Jahrhundert an der Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf gewirkt haben. Die Ausbildung an der Kunstakademie fokussierte zunächst vor allem die Historien- Portrait und Landschaftsmalerei und legte einen besonderen Wert auf die maltechnische Ausbildung. Innovative Lehrmethoden führten zu hohem internationalen Ansehen, das Künstler aus der ganzen Welt anlockte. Ausgehend von Werken und Künstlern dieser zentralen Malerschule des 19. Jahrhunderts werden methodische sowie theoretische Übungen zu u.a. Insitutionsgeschichte, Gattungsordnungen oder Malweisen unternommen. Zwei Ortsbesuche in Düsseldorf sind geplant.
