Zum Themenkomplex des Seminars gehören die Fragen nach der Klassifikation von Fehlern und deren Korrektur, der Sprachstandsmessung und der Testtypologie.
Das Seminar hat zwei Schwerpunkte: formelle Leistungsbeurteilung in Form von standardisierten Prüfungen und Tests und informelle Leistungsbeurteilung im Unterricht , die sowohl schriftlich als auch mündlich erfolgt und Fehlerkorrektur, Bewertung und Rückmeldung sprachlicher Leistungen mit einschließt.
Nach einer Einführung in die Testtheorie werden im Seminar Qualitätskriterien für Leistungstests und Aufgabentypen in Sprachprüfungen diskutiert. Es wird dargestellt, wie die Teilleistungen der sprachlichen Kompetenz getestet werden können.
Der Praxisbezug wird durch Beispiele gängiger Tests (Prüfungen des Goethe-Instituts, Tests von Telc, DSH, TestDaF) und die Entwicklung eigener Prüfungsaufgaben hergestellt.
Bei der Beschäftigung mit dem informellen Evaluieren im Unterricht werden Fehlertypen und mögliche Fehlerursachen identifiziert, vorhandene Bewertungskriterien diskutiert, eigene Bewertungsskalen erstellt und erprobt und Formen effektiver Rückmeldung dargestellt.
