Das Ziel des Seminars ist es, Methoden zu erlernen wie man experimentelle Rohdaten, wie sie im Studium und in der Praxis oft auftreten, effizient auswertet und attraktiv visualisiert.
Dabei werden Themen wie grundlegende Datenexploration, wichtige Datenbereinigung, die Wahl der richtigen Datenanalyse und attraktive Visualisierungen mit geringem Aufwand behandelt.
Das Erlernte kann dann sofort z.B. während der Bachelor- oder Masterarbeit angewendet werden

Die während des Seminars behandelten Themen sollen von den Studierenden mit Hilfe von Arbeitszetteln eigenständig wiederholt werden. Die Arbeitszettel werden wöchentlich herausgegeben und sollen innerhalb einer Woche bearbeitet werden. Die Bearbeitung in kleineren Gruppen ist erlaubt. Die Themen des Seminars bauen stark aufeinander auf, so dass eine regelmäßige Teilnahme besonders empfohlen wird.
