270060 Cognitive neuroscience of perception and action (S) (SoSe 2019)

Contents, comment

There is a growing consensus in psychology and the neurosciences that perception should be studied and understood in its bidirectional relationship to action. This insight has been the key topic of a recent book: Lauwereyns, J. (2012). Brain and the gaze: On the active boundaries of vision. MIT Press (online version available from the University Library). Interestingly, the author presents material from experimental psychology, the neurosciences, philosophy and art. In this seminar, we will read, present (in form of talks) and discuss all chapters from this book, supplemented by relevant recent journal papers.

Requirements for participation, required level

A degree in Psychology (BSc) including significant neuroscience courses (e.g., biological psychology or neuropsychology) is required.
