In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Arbeitsbereich "Geschichte als Beruf" bietet die Geschichtsdidaktik Studierenden des Faches Sachunterricht die Möglichkeit an, die Berufsfeldbezogene Praxisstudie an außerschulischen historischen Lernorten zu absolvieren. Kooperationen bestehen dazu u. a. mit Museen (z. B. Archäologisches Freilichtmuseum Oerlinghausen, Historisches Museum Bielefeld, LWL-Freilichtmuseum Detmold) und Archiven, an denen nach Absprache mit den jeweiligen Institutionen das Praktikum in Blockform oder semesterbegleitend durchgeführt werden kann. In einer Informationsveranstaltung zu Beginn des Semesters werden verschiedene Einrichtungen mit ihren Angeboten vorgestellt, die Bewerbung für das Praktikum erfolgt dann - mit Unterstützung durch die Universität - jeweils individuell.
