In diesem Seminar soll Grundwissen zu Gesellschaft, Politik und Wirtschaft der Bundesrepublik angesprochen werden, dies inklusive raumbezogenen Aspekten (Sozial-Geographie und physische Geographie). Über ein solches Wissen müssen DaF-Lehrkräfte verfügen, um Lehrwerke einschätzen zu können und im Unterricht agieren zu können.
Hradil (2012) wird ein Themengeber sein: Bevölkerung, Migration, Familie, Soziale Ungleichheit, Siedlungsstruktur, Zivilgesellschaft etc. werden bei ihm kurz eingeführt.
Neben Deutschland – und seinen Regionen – als Touristenziel können ebenso spezifische Erinnerungsorte des kollektiven deutschen Gedächtnisses (Bsp. Deutscher Wald) behandelt werden.
Eine dreitägige Exkursion (Hansestadt Lübeck mit dem neuen Europäischen Hanse-Museum von 2015, UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe, Willy Brandt, Günter Grass, Marzipan) könnte - Teilnahme ist nicht obligatorisch - Bestandteil des Seminars sein. Ein Zuschuss des Faches DaF (Fahrtkosten, Eintritte, Führungen) wird beantragt werden.
