In dem Kolloquium werden die im Studium erworbenen Erfahrungen und das erworbene Wissen in einem übergeordneten Zusammenhang in Bezug auf den eigenen Professionalisierungprozess reflektiert. Die Studierenden stellen dabei ihre sachunterrichtliche Haltung dar und vertreten ihre Position mit wissenschaftlichen Kriterien (wie fachliches Sachwissen, didaktische Konzepte des Sachunterrichts und pädagogische Erkenntnisse), die ihnen in Studium und Praxis begegnet sind. Sie benennen die Anforderungen des Professionshandelns und schätzen sich selbst in ihrer eigenen Entwicklung ein. Sie benennen dazu die Anforderungen und Kompetenzen, denen sie bereits (teilweise) gerecht werden, und formulieren ihr persönliches weiteres Entwicklungspotenzial. Die Studierenden beziehen sich bei ihrer Reflexion auf ihren individuellen Werdegang und die von ihnen besuchten Veranstaltungen.
