Phonologische Theorien und psycholinguistische Modelle postulieren unterschiedliche Annahmen, wie spezifisch phonologische Einheiten auf lexikalischer Ebene repräsentiert sind. Im Seminar werden zunächst unterschiedliche phonologische Theorien und verschiedene psycholinguistische Modelle einander gegenübergestellt und die entsprechenden Parallelen und Unterschiede erarbeitet. Anhand relevanter empirischer Studien sollen einige zentrale Annahmen beispielhaft überprüft werden. Es sollen hierzu auch Studien aus dem Bereich des Erst- und Zweitspracherwerbs, bzw. Untersuchungen mit mono- und bilingualen Sprecherpopulationen sowie Sprecher mit angeborenen und erworbenen sprachlichen Beeinträchtigungen berücksichtigt werden. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt wird auf den unterschiedlichen empirischen Methoden liegen, die in diesen Studien zum Einsatz kommen.
