Contents, comment

Gegenstand des Seminars ist die Frage inwieweit soziale Ungleichheiten im Hinblick auf Lebenschancen und -risiken über Generationen reproduziert werden. In diesem Zusammenhang betrachtet das Seminar die dahinter liegenden Mechanismen und Prozesse und fragt in wieweit die empirischen Lage für oder gegen eine Persistenz sozialer Ungleichheiten in verschiedenen westlichen Gesellschaften sprechen.

Methodologisch fokussiert das Seminar auf aktuelle Forschungsansätze, welche im Rahmen der Familien- und Lebenslaufforschung, u.a. anhand von demographischen Prozessen, die intergenerationale Transmission sozialer Ungleichheiten analysieren. Im weiteren Verlauf betrachtet das Seminar die Methoden der Geschwister- und Zwillingsanalysen.
