Die Aufspaltung des Christentums in Katholizismus und Protestantismus zeigt sich in der Gegenwart besonders in Deutschland, in dem Anhänger beider Konfessionen fast gleichermaßen vertreten sind, während der Norden Europas eher protestantisch, der Süden und Osten eher katholisch (bzw. orthodox) ist. Diese Aufteilung nahm mit der Reformation ihren Anfang und führte die Kirche in tiefste theologische Auseinandersetzungen – und in verheerende politischen Konflikte und Kriege. In diesem Seminar soll das protestantische Anliegen ebenso zur Sprache kommen, wie die gesellschaftspolitische Lage in Deutschland und insgesamt in Europa, und es soll aufgezeigt werden, inwiefern das Anliegen der Reformation weit vom Verständnis der damaligen päpstlichen Kirche entfernt war. – Aufgrund der unterschiedlichen Perspektiven, die in diesem Seminar dargestellt werden, ist es besonders für fachdidaktische Möglichkeiten offen, diese Positionen „schulgerecht“ darzustellen und nachvollziehbar zu machen.
