In dem Blockseminar werden auf Grundlage des u. a. Bostoner Pragamatismus in seinen verschiedenen Ausprägungen und Grundlagen, wie z. B. der Evolutionstheorie, die erziehungstheoretische Rezeption anhand von Originalquellen mit dem Fokus auf John Dewey thematisiert. Hierzu gehören auch die insbesondere deutsche Diskussion bzw. die historische und aktuelle Rezeption. Ziele des Seminares sind der kritisch-reflexive Umgang mit der Pragmatischen Philosophie und der Philosophie John Deweys, sowie mit seinen Einflüssen auf die progressive education. Dabei sollen die pädagogischen und auch politischen Implikationen herausgearbeitet werden.
