In nahezu allen Bereichen des Lernens werden Fertigkeiten und Kenntnisse durch Lektüreprozesse erworben. Daher kommt der Lesekompetenz, trotz der zunehmenden Bedeutung neuer Medien, nach wie vor der Rang einer Schlüsselqualifikation zu.
Das Seminar führt in die aktuelle Forschung zum Konzept der Lesekompetenz ein. Auf der Basis einschlägiger Texte werden Grundbegriffe, Strukturen und Probleme des Konzepts erörtert. Es wird um Sozialisationsbedingungen, sozialhistorische Rahmenbedingungen, um die Stellung des Lesens im medialen Spannungsfeld sowie um Methoden der schulischen Erhebung und Förderung der Lesekompetenz gehen.
