Nach der sog. Platonischen Ideenlehre besteht neben der Erfahrungswelt der einzelnen Dinge eine andere, von dieser getrennte Realität, die unveränderlich und nicht durch die Erfahrung, sondern nur durch den Geist zu erfassen sei: die der Ideen. Die Erfahrungswelt sei von den Ideen abhängig: sie sei nur, indem sie an den Ideen „teilhabe“. Die Ideenlehre ist der Ausgangspunkt der Diskussion um das Universalienproblem -- die Frage, in welchem Verhältnis Einzelnes und Allgemeines stehen --, das bis in die Gegenwart Gegenstand der Philosophie ist.
Das Seminar gibt zunächst eine einführende Übersicht in die platonische Philosophie und deren Besonderheiten (philosophischer Hintergrund, Werk, Form der Dialoge, Dialektik). Der zweite Teil des Seminars behandelt die zentralen Quellentexte der Ideenlehre (bes. Euthyphron, Menon, Phaidon, Symposion, Politeia), der dritte die Kritik an der Ideenlehre von seiten Platons selbst im Parmenides, von Seiten Aristoteles’ und durch die gegenwärtige Philosophie (G. Vlastos u.a.).

Voraussetzung für die Vergabe von 2 Leistungspunkten (BA- und MA ed.-Studiengang) ist die regelmäßige und aktive Teilnahme sowie das Erbringen des schriftlichen oder mündlichen Beitrags im Umfang von maximal 1200 Wörtern für das Modulportfolio, auf dem die unbenotete Moduleinzelleitung beruht. Die Anforderungen für den Modulportfolio-Beitrag werden zu Veranstaltungsbeginn bekannt gegeben.
