Gegenstand der Vorlesung Numerik II ist die numerische Lösung von Anfangs- und Randwertproblemen für gewöhnliche Differentialgleichungen.
Nach einem kurzen Exkurs zur Existenz, Einzigkeit und Stabilität bei gewöhnlichen Differentialgleichungsproblemen werden zunächst
Einschrittverfahren zur numerischen Behandlung von Anfangswertproblemen vorgestellt. Diese umfassen insbesondere Euler-, Crank-Nicolson- und Runge-Kutta-Verfahren.Es folgt eine Einführung in die Theorie der Mehrschrittverfahren, die unter
anderem die Untersuchung von Differenzengleichungen erfordert. Ferner wird ein Ausblick auf aktuelle Entwicklungen wie zum Beispiel das
Discontinuous-Galerkin-Verfahren gegeben.Eine zentrale Rolle spielen die Konzepte der Konsistenz, Stabilität und
Konvergenz. Spezielle Resultate werden für dissipative Systeme vorgestellt.Schließlich wird die näherungsweise Lösung von Randwertaufgaben für gewöhnliche Differentialgleichungen zweiter Ordnung studiert.
