300301 Soziologie des Suizids (S) (WiSe 2010/2011)

Die geplante Veranstaltung verfolgt zunächst das Ziel, die gegenwärtige Suizidproblematik aus interkulturell-vergleichender und historischer Perspektive zu betrachten, also die in der Geschichte und zwischen Kulturellen wechselnden Interpretationen und Bewertungen des Suizides zu verdeutlichen, so dass die Rolle von Normen und Werten bei der Konstitution bzw. Umdeutung des Suizids als soziales Problem erkennbar wird. Da die Suizidforschung vor ganz spezifischen methodischen Problemen steht, die man kennen muss, wenn man epidemiologische Befunde angemessen interpretieren will, widmet sich ein zweiter Themenkreis ausgewählten methodischen Problemen der Suizidforschung (u. a. Problematik der Suiziddefinition, Todesursachenstatistik als gesellschaftlicher Konstruktion, Aussagefähigkeit von Abschiedsbriefen etc.). Drittens geht es um die Epidemiologie des Suizides im Längsschnitt und im internationalen Vergleich, die für die angemessene Bewertung theoretischer Ansätze in Grundzügen bekannt sein muss. Im vierten und zentralen Teil der Lehrveranstaltung sollen zentrale theoretische Erklärungsansätze (u. a. Statusintegrationstheorie, Modernisierungstheorie, Anomietheorie, Lern- bzw. Nachahmungstheorie, Netzwerktheorie, Frustrations-Aggressionstheorie etc.) in Anlehnung und Überwindung des Durkheimschen Ansatzes diskutiert und theoretischer und empirischer Kritik unterzogen werden. Im abschließenden Block stehen aktuell besonders beachtete spezielle Suizidvarianten (Selbstmordattentate; Amok und Suizid) sowie anwendungsorientierte Themen im Zentrum (Euthanasie bzw. Assistierter Suizid und Präventions- und Interventionsansätze).
