Heutzutage kann jeder ein Held sein: „We can be heroes – just for one day“ – singt schon David Bowie. Die damit einhergehende Vorstellung, dass sich jeder Mensch in irgendeinem gesellschaftlichen Kontext so hervortun kann, dass seine Mitmenschen ihn als Helden sehen (wenn auch nur für einen Tag), könnte sich nicht stärker von dem Heldenbild unterscheiden, dass in der mittelalterlichen Literatur vorherrscht. Im Seminar wird untersucht, welches Heldenbild in verschiedenen epischen Gattungen (Heldenepos, Artusroman, Antikenroman) entwickelt wird – vorgesehen ist dafür die Arbeit mit zentralen Auszüge aus dem 'Nibelungenlied', dem 'Erec', dem 'Parzival' und dem 'Alexanderroman'. Gleichzeitig sollen diachrone (literaturwissenschaftliche) Entwicklungen des Begriffs ‚Held‘ vom Mittelalter bis zur Moderne aufgezeigt und analysiert werden.

Die Textauszüge aus dem 'Nibelungenlied', dem 'Erec', dem 'Parzival' und dem 'Alexanderroman' werden für die Teilnehmer im Lernraum zur Verfügung gestellt.
