Realismus und Mimesis in Literatur und Film

Die Bezeichnung ‚Realismus‘ kann als literaturwissenschaftlicher Begriff sowohl historisch als auch typologisch verwendet werden. Wir erarbeiten uns dabei über theoretische Zugänge und enge Textanalyse die typologischen Charakteristika realistischen Erzählens, insbesondere auch bezüglich der narratologischen Verfahren. Dabei erhalten wir Einblick in die literarische Strömung des Realismus in Frankreich.
Zunächst lesen und interpretieren wir kürzere Texte oder Auszüge aus dem Werk verschiedener Autoren (z.B. Gustave Flaubert, Stendhal, Guy de Maupassant, Honoré de Balzac). Davon ausgehend soll durch die genaue Lektüre des Romans "Madame Bovary" von Gustave Flaubert dessen spezifische Ästhetik beleuchtet werden. Davon ausgehend werden wir der Frage nachgehen, wie sich realistische Schreibverfahren im Medium Film umsetzen lassen. Als Beispiele dienen die Verfilmungen des Romans "Madame Bovary" von Jean Renoir und Claude Chabrol.

Studierende der Romanistik lesen die Primärtexte im Original, Studierende der Literaturwissenschaft können ggf. die deutsche Übersetzung lesen.
Die kürzeren Texte werden online zur Verfügung gestellt.
Die Studierenden sollten sich den Roman Madame Bovary vor Semesterbeginn besorgen und vorab lesen.
