Textbooks, such as the ones published by Cornelsen as English G or by Klett in the Green Line series, are the most common material to be used by pupils and students alike, despite a digitally enhanced classroom, and despite the many electronic augmentations provided by the publishers for the same "Learning systems".
In this class, we will take a close look at exemplary task formats designed for different books used in different school types (HR / GyGe)across the individual forms (5-12). We will critically assess these tasks and discuss possible ways to modify them so as to tailor them to suit the pupils' demands and needs. Finally we will see where it makes sense to turn away from the textbook, and to include either self-fashioned material, or to exploit other offers provided by the publishers in addition to the textbooks.
Ideally, a few sessions in this clss will be assisted by publishers' representatives who inform us about their didactic and commerical interests.
