Please note that this class has restricted access - you will need to sign in for it! Students of economics (also including "Studierende & Wirtschaft" and "Europa Intensiv") are given priority.
However, there will also be a waiting list for students of other faculties, in case there are any vacancies left by students of economics. Both lists can be found in the office of Ms Bautz (D3-113).
As there is likely to be a long waiting list, students who do not participate in the first session will lose their place!'''
As far as content is concerned, this course is the second part of a two-term course. It will largely concentrate on spoken English and its use in a business context, including dictations, note-taking and role-plays for phone calls or discussions. Participants should be prepared to actively participate in group exercises and peer assessment.
Apart from that, the class is open to suggestions and will take into account the needs and interests of students, where possible.
To avoid frustration, I would like to point out that this class is not a basic language class. Though it aims at giving students a chance to complete their vocabulary and to practice their English, it requires the ability to communicate in English and the willingness to independently work up on gaps.
Students will be required to do occasional exercises and hand in a portfolio at the end of term for a certificate of attendance (Teilnahmebestätigung). The portfolio will be graded for students who require language credits (Schein) or two BA points. There will be the opportunity to write a test for those BA students that require a "benotete Einzeleistung".
