Wie die Germanistik entstand, ist auch unter Fachhistorikern umstritten. Als sicher kann gelten, daß ihre "Geburt" in Abhängigkeit von einer Reihe historischer Umwälzungen des ausgehenden 18. und frühen 19. Jahrhundert zu beschreiben ist. Wir werden im Seminar anhand ausgewählter Texte aus der Zeit zwischen 1780 und 1850 einige Aspekte der Entstehung unserer Disziplin untersuchen. Ziel ist es, ein möglichst umfassendes Bild von dem zu zeichnen, was Germanistik einmal war. Die Textgrundlage des Seminars ist ein von mir zusammengestellter Reader, der in der ersten Sitzung des Semesters von den TeilnehmerInnen erworben wird.
Ein Teilnahmeschein wird durch regelmäßige Teilnahme, ein Leistungsschein durch eine Hausarbeit (15-20 Seiten) erworben.
Teilnehmerzahl: max. 70 Studierende.
