Thomas Manns vierteiliger Romanzyklus, der in den Jahren 1926 bis 1942 entstanden ist, stellt bis heute eine besondere Herausforderung für die Forschung dar. Der Roman ist und steht in der Tradition der Bibel-Dichtung. Aber daraus allein ist kaum ein Zugang zu diesem monumentalisierenden, mythisierenden Werke, zu dieser "verschämten Menschheitsdichtung" (so Thomas Mann selbst 1942) zu gewinnen. Wie aber dann?
Voraussetzung für dieses Interpretationsseminar ist die gründliche Lektüre des Romans in den Semesterferien.
