Dieser Workshop ist ein Angebot an StudentInnen, gemeinsam dem "qualitativen Forschen" auf die Spur zu kommen und im Diskurs mit anderen kennen zu lernen. Dies kann eine Vorbereitung auf eigene (Abschluss-) Arbeiten sein, ist zugleich aber ein Einblick in Forschungsabläufe. Im Zentrum des Seminars steht die Arbeit an Fallbeschreibungen, die einen "Fall" - hier Interviews - zusammenfassend charakterisieren sollen und eine Annäherungsmöglichkeit an das Datenmaterial bieten. Innerhalb des Seminars soll kurz in die Thematik "Migranten und Medien" sowie die Erhebungs- und Auswertungsmethoden eingeführt werden, bevor sich die TeilnehmerInnen selbst in das Material "begeben". Unter Anleitung und in Diskussion miteinander werden die Fallbeschreibungen angefertigt und anschließend vergleichend einander gegenüber gestellt. Trotz dessen im Seminarplan ausreichend Zeit für die Anfertigung der Arbeiten eingeplant ist, wird dieses Seminar arbeitsintensiv. Entsprechend wird eine engagierte Mitarbeit erwartet.
